On June 28th, Bonnie Zehler was awarded the Rotarian of the Year award from the Rotary Club of Chambersburg. The chosen recipient is one who through the year exemplified our motto, Service Above Self, receives a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, and is chosen by that year's President.
Bonnie was chosen as the Rotarian of the Year because throughout the year, she was a constant reminder of the importance of the work that we do in Rotary. We were coming out of a rough few years, with membership diminishing, yet Bonnie remained firm in helping everyone remember our principles. She has been an essential part of our Foundation, an ardent supporter of our Foundation, and integral in the success of this year's Chicken N' Stuff fundraiser through which she reminded everyone in the Club, that while things may have changed over the last few years, we're still very much so an incredibly active group of friends who come out for the benefit of the community. As such, it was my pleasure to award Bonnie, our reminder of the principles of Rotary, as our Rotarian of the Year.
